Pablo González, principal guest conductor of the Sinfónica de Tenerife, is our guide for a special evening that culminates in one of the greatest works of the 20th century: Stravinsky’s The Firebird.
Mussorgsky is the untameable soul of Russian music. His Songs and Dances of Death is a fierce and moving song cycle and a sadly beautiful ode to Death, with four scenes in which Death takes on different forms to convince and seduce its victims. Internationally acclaimed bass-baritone Egils Siliņš brings this deeply moving opera to life.
Stravinsky’s The Firebird brings the programme to its conclusion with an explosion of colour from the orchestra. This revolutionary work forever changed the history of music. Composed for the legendary Ballets Russes company, the score unleashes the full expressive power of the orchestra, which practically comes to life.
