The National Music Prize and conductor Javier Perianes makes his début at the helm of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra with works by Mozart and Beethoven

The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra closes the season with a concert under the direction of the pianist Javier Perianes. The programme covers a repertoire between the Classicism and the Romantic era with compositions by Mozart and Beethoven. This new gathering takes place on Friday [17t] at 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorio de Tenerife. The same concert takes place on Saturday [18th] at 8:30 p.m. in Santa Cruz de La Palma at the Teatro Circo de Marte.

This double concert starts with the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 9 in E-flat major, K. 271 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Dated in 1777, this is the first concert for a keyboard that the Austrian composer wrote to be premièred by a soloist different from himself. In this case, it was Victoire Jenamy. This work was considered a turning point in terms of originality and determination among the scores Mozart signed.  The composition notably includes intricate musical fragments that combine themes and phrasings, dialogues within the orchestra and its fusion with the soloist.

During the concert's second part, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra will play the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37 by Ludwig Van Beethoven. The work was composed in 1800 and premièred in 1803 in the midst of his existential torment due to his increasing deafness. The piece is devoted to Louis Ferdinand, Prince of Prussia. It reflects the intensity and dramatic strength of the Pathétiquecomposed by Beethoven just a few months before. Its execution is very demanding with technical dynamics that finish with a triumphant closing, like a return to life.
