Orquesta Barroca de Tenerife

The Orquesta Barroca de Tenerife (OBdT) continues to strengthen its commitment to establishing historically informed performance as a regular feature of musical life in the Canary Islands, while providing opportunities for talented young musicians. Despite their youth, these performers have already achieved a remarkable level of artistic maturity through their experience in the performance of Spanish early music.

The growing number and increasingly high standard of musicians in the Canary Islands specialising in period instruments and historically informed performance have played a key role in the renewed interest in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century repertoire across the archipelago. The OBdT’s concerts bring leading international artistic perspectives to the local music scene and attract the interest of professionals and music lovers from further afield.

Over the past seven years, the OBdT has established itself as the Canary Islands’ leading ensemble specialising in historically informed performance. The orchestra brings the Baroque repertoire to life through the outstanding artistry of its musicians.

Its wide-ranging programmes are designed to engage diverse audiences and encourage greater participation in concert life. The orchestra presents a repertoire within a rigorous and contemporary musicological context, helping to foster interest in early music and expand concert programming throughout the archipelago.

These initiatives are made possible through the support of regional and local public authorities, tours organised as part of the Canary Islands International Music Festival and the Auditorio de Tenerife’s concert programme.
