Celso Giménez
creator
Writer and Stage Creator: In 2005, alongside Itsaso Arana and Violeta Gil, he founded La Tristura, an artistic collective to which she has remained committed. Through this company, she has developed an extensive project focused on research and theatrical creation. Among their significant productions are 'Future Lovers', 'CINE', and 'Renacimiento'. His practice investigates the limits between documentary and fiction, as well as between presentation and representation, underpinned by the conviction that intimacy and poetry are inherently political notions. His pieces have been showcased in a range of prominent national and international contexts, including Teatros del Canal (Madrid), Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Festival Grec (Barcelona), Cena Contemporânea (Brasília), Noorderzon Festival (Groningen), Théâtre de Liège, Festival Auawirleben (Bern), La Comédie de Reims, and the Festival de Otoño in Madrid. His writings have been translated into numerous languages, among them English, French, Portuguese, Polish, German, and Finnish. Most recently, he has co-authored the feature films' Anoche conquisté Tebas' alongside Gabriel Azorín, currently in post-production, and 'A nuestros amigos' by Adrián Orr, which has been showcased at festivals across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Throughout these years, he has contributed as a writer and artistic consultant to projects by artists such as La Veronal, El Conde de Torrefiel, and Mucha Muchacha, among others. Additionally, Celso is the creator and director of the ‘Escuela de Invierno’, an annual interdisciplinary research and development programme based at the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Conde Duque in Madrid.
