Romeo y Julieta de bolsillo
Synopsis
Auditorio de Tenerife has scheduled a performance of Romeo y Julieta de bolsillo by the theatrical troupe Compañía Criolla, to take place in the auditorium’s La Salita theatre hall. The show is suitable for all spectators from the age of eight onwards.
Two university professors give a master class on William Shakespeare, or at least that is their intention. Details on the life and work of the Bard are a matter of debate, and when it comes to discussing them, these two professors are in a class of their own. How many commas did Shakespeare use in his works? How many full stops? How many references to ears are there? How many times do his characters speak of love? It would seem that these experts have left no stone unturned. Or have they?
Is the end of Romeo y Julieta happy or sad? This simple question constitutes the most significant challenge the two have ever faced: interpreting the work with all its characters within the duration of a single class. Using whatever they have at hand as props and costumes, these two bookworms interpret 11 fascinating characters in a reading of Shakespeare that is relatable, poetic and, above all else, fun.
