The event is organised by the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) and the Tenerife Island Council

The 17th Conference on Inclusion in the Performing Arts opened on Wednesday (April 22) at the Auditorio de Tenerife. This national gathering, organised by INAEM and the Tenerife Island Council, will run for three days on the island. The opening of the event featured the participation of the Director General of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), an autonomous body of the Ministry of Culture, Paz Santa Cecilia; the Island Councillor for Culture, Museums and Sport of the Tenerife Island Council, José Carlos Acha; and the programme curator, Eva García.

Activities opened with performances by artists and collectives from the Canary Islands: The Canarian Foundation El Buen Samaritano, Acerina Amador, the Artistic Association Memvus, Satélite Teatro, and Barrios Orquestados. Following these performances, the programme continued with a round table moderated by Eva García, bringing together Alexis Mesa, Dagmary Olivar and Yeison García. The event concluded with Vagabundus, a choreography by Idio Chichava, staged in the Chamber Hall.

This edition is historic: held for the first time on the islands, it achieved record participation—213 attendees (55% from the Canary Islands and 45% from the mainland)—and 120 speakers and artists. Another new feature of this event was the creation of a technical committee comprising local organisations to deepen regional engagement. Its purpose was to coordinate inclusion, accessibility, education, and mediation initiatives, marking a first in the event’s history.
