This new proposal marks the culmination of the first week of FAM, which concludes on Sunday, the 8th.

Canadian choreographer Marie Chouinard’s dance company will perform a double programme on Saturday (31st) and Sunday (1st), at 7.30 p.m. The show begins with the MAGNIFICAT and is followed by the world premiere of BodyremixRemix. Both performances are included in the fifteenth Arts and Movement Festival (FAM), which started last Tuesday and ends on 8 June.

The choreography draws on great musical scores, including Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, Chopin’s 24 Preludes, and Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun. In MAGNIFICAT, Marie Chouinard combines large ensemble passages with trios, duets, and solos, creating 35 minutes of stage artistry. The piece was premiered last Sunday at Teatros del Canal in Madrid.

The Symphony Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife will then be the setting for the world premiere of BodyRemixremix. With a reinterpretation of Bach’s music as its backdrop, objects such as crutches, pointe shoes, horizontal bars, and harnesses become extensions of the twelve dancers’ bodies. The performance features solos, duets, trios, and ensembles, all engaging with the human condition and redefining the boundless potential of the moving body. BodyremixRemix (2025) is a 40-minute remix by Marie Chouinard, based on her original 2005 piece bODY_rEMIX/les_vARIATIONS_gOLDBERG.

The second week of FAM25 kicks off on Monday, 2 June, at 7.30 p.m. at the cultural venue ‘Espacio La Granja’ with the company Clémentine & Lisard and La mecànica de l’infortuni. The dancing duo Clémentine Télesfort and Lisard Tranis will fill the stage with their art in a show that features body language and the reflexes that are produced in response to adverse circumstances. Two days afterwards, at the same location and time, Estévez/Paños and their company will perform Tríptico #2 (Meter los pies, Nondedéu y Silencios) (Triptych #2 – Putting Feet In, Nondedéu, and Silences).

FAM 25 will take to the streets on 5 June, on the grounds of the Guimerá Theatre. At 6 p.m., the first performances will be Laura López Muñoz and Pablo Pérez Alonso interpreting Bailaban las perolas, along with the premiere of RÆM by Galicia-born Javier Martín during his artistic residence at the La Salita hall. This will be followed by Kiko López Company performing Honest at 7.30 p.m. and Ángel Durán Performing Arts interpreting Clinch. On June 6th at 7.30 p.m., Espacio La Granja welcomes Paula Quintana with her latest show, Atlas de anatomía humana (Atlas of Human Anatomy).

The festival’s second weekend will begin with two new creations scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Espacio La Granja. Under the billing ‘Jornada FAM’, the company Colectivo Lamajara will interpret Cuaderno de campo, el legado de una obra (Field notebook, the legacy of a work), and the troupe Javier Arozena-la compañía will perform Cuarto. On the afternoon of June 7th, the Symphony Hall at the Auditorio de Tenerife will present another major production of this edition: Mellowing, by Dance on Ensemble, at 7.30 p.m.

The festival will conclude on Sunday, 8 June, with two shows at the Auditorio de Tenerife. The first performance, taking place at noon in La Salita hall, will showcase the company of dancer and performer Sonia Gómez with her piece Calidoscòpica. Later, at 7.30 p.m., Richard Mascherin will conclude the festival’s 15th anniversary in the Symphony Hall with the world premiere of his new indoor work, Abertura.

Alongside the Tenerife Island Council, the FAM festival is supported by the Canary Islands Government through the Regional Institute of Cultural Development, the Autonomous Department of Cultural Affairs of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the programme ‘Danza a Escena’, which is part of the Spanish Network of Theatres of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM) of Spain’s Ministry of Culture. The festival holds the EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) of the European Union. The label is an acknowledgement of the quality of festivals with artistic missions, commitment to local communities, and strategic vision.

The festival passes can be purchased at a single price of €15 on the website www.auditoriodetenerife.com, at the auditorium’s box office, or by dialling the phone number 902 317 327 from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You must collect your festival pass in person at the Auditorium’s box office or the Espacio La Granja on performance days to attend the shows.

Due to the Armed Forces Day events, access to the Auditorio de Tenerife will be restricted from June 2 to June 8. The public is therefore encouraged to arrive as early as possible. Please note that entry to the hall will not be permitted once the concert has started.
