The company is already at the stage of the Auditorio de Tenerife preparing for the show.
The show Libros cruzados, a coproduction of Delirium Teatro and the Auditorio de Tenerife, celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Tenerife-based company, and it has sold out all 10 performances scheduled at La Salita. The company is already in technical residence at the Auditorio’s stage, preparing the production ahead of Friday’s premiere.
To mark its fortieth anniversary, Delirium Teatro has created a series of activities under the title’ ’40 Delirios’, featuring among them the staging of Libros cruzados, written by Antonio Tabares from La Palma and directed by Severiano García. After a successful tour across the Canary Islands from its debut in Tacoronte in early September, Libros cruzados is scheduled at La Salita on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th of October.
The production features a creative team of 20 individuals, with 12 actors including Soraya González del Rosario, a central figure along with Severiano García, plus Joche Rubio, Maday Méndez, Silvia Criado, Abel Moral, Carmen Cabeza, Vicente Ayala, Joel Morales, Daniel Sanginés, Mabel Quintero, Delia Hernández, and Ignacio de la Lastra. Laura Reyes assists in direction, and Julio Tejera leads the musical direction.
At the heart of the play is a book that keeps changing ownership: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. As the story unfolds, three women reassess their lives after reading it. For museum security guard Mariana, the story reflects her own life, which she feels is dull and senseless. Patricia, a novelist, faces doubts about her role as a writer and the sincerity of her partnership. Silvia, on the other hand, draws comfort from Tolstoy’s writing to cope with her suffering. Libros cruzados expresses Tabares’ love of books and his rumination regarding the extent to which books may shed light on our lives and help us to carry on.
La Salita’s program continues with Sombras, por supuesto (Shadows, of course) by El Silencio, a 360-degree production in which the audience surrounds the stage, set within the universe of filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder, a constant source of inspiration for the company.
