The Auditorio de Tenerife kicks off its performing-arts season in its Symphony Hall with PECES BORROSOS (Blurry Fish), a newly commissioned creation of Canarian choreographer Carmen Fumero and Taiwanese dance company Chang Dance Theatre.

When looking at fish in a pond, something appears to be blurry, but, at the unseen bottom, a pleasing and naturally occurring order is maintained. PECES BORROSOS (Blurry Fish) is a metaphor about blurriness and the natural order of things.

Walking, footsteps, the connecting foot. From the footprint that we leave behind, the water that generates life and movement emerges. It is at this moment that the lines between walking and swimming are blurred. Something becomes blurry and diluted, but it remains.

Like the fish in a pond, our experience in the world is blurry on the surface but deep and orderly at the bottom.

A silence. All is said and all remains to be said. An empty space packed with suggestion; the capacity of generation of something from nothing.

Many constellations may be formed within a place, within a pond, and many combinations of colours may come of one union with another. Do we actually choose the hues that we wish to have or whom we wish to be? Or is it the other who decides, and are we, like fish mingling together, the ones who drift along with that current?

The creatures of this painting appear before us immersed in that great, empty space. However, when we contemplate those fish, their presence immediately brings water to mind.
