Dúo del Valle
Synopsis
The Auditorio de Tenerife, as part of the piano concerts of the Chamber Music Cycle, presents a recital of Dúo del Valle, the siblings Víctor and Luis del Valle, who will interpret with two pianos the programme El jardín de lo imposible (The Garden of the Impossible).
A garden represents endless possibilities: open paths, hidden life, dreams and unrestrained growth. El jardín de lo imposible (The Garden of the Impossible) invites us to move beyond reality and explore a space where imagination becomes sound, the piano splits in two, and music turns into play, poetry, and wonder.
The programme opens with György Ligeti, renowned master for his innovative approach. His four-hand piano pieces blend dance, contrapuntal study, and rhythmic complexity with subtle irony. Here, tradition twists and expands, like a vine growing in unpredictable ways.
Francis Poulenc embodies this playful and human spirit. In his Sonata, as well as in L’embarquement pour Cythère and Capriccio, his music reveals both light-heartedness and moments of melancholy, mischief that shines and disappears. Poulenc’s work bridges popular and refined styles, characterised by a distinct French blend of grace and wit.
The festive energy of Darius Milhaud’s Scaramouche bursts forth like a masquerade full of colour, movement and infectious rhythm: street theatre that opens up to the audience and invites them to participate.
Maurice Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye invites us to rediscover a sense of wonder and to appreciate beauty with a fresh perspective. Its pages discover pure magic, with delicate and mysterious qualities that set the stage for La Valse, which transforms dance into a powerful experience and reminds us that even in moments of beauty, chaos may be present.
This concert is designed as a journey, moving from imagination to dreams and from playfulness to the sublime. It celebrates the piano duo as a vehicle for discovery, where performers unite to show that the seemingly impossible can be realized through music.
