Vivencias
Synopsis
The Cultural Association Tajaraste presents its show Vivencias, a retrospective of over 40 years of the organisation’s activity featuring the Canary Islands’ most emblematic traditional songs and dances, along with the archipelago’s different folk costumes.
The show will begin with an overture: the regional dance Tajaraste, featuring tall poles adorned with ribbons and fruits, in a recreation of a religious pilgrimage known as a romería. Afterwards, there will be a homage to the Federation of Associations of Choirs and Dances of Spain (FACYDE), of which the association is a collaborating organisation. The next part of the programme, titled ‘Estampa Palmera’, will recreate the association’s appearance on the television programme Gente Joven. Following this, the show will pay tribute to the archipelago’s eastern islands, with a display of the singing and dancing of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, and to its western islands, with the songs and dances of El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma. The next part of the show, titled ‘Parranda’, will feature a series of the association’s musical numbers dedicated to their city, Christmas, travel and Hispanic America. The performance will conclude with Tenerife and the island’s most popular styles of song and dance: folias, malagueñas and isas.
