The company sets off their satiric point of view, with musically structured scenes that exude acid wit. The audience will see the daily business of a great newspaper, Zenit. They will see the ins and outs of their office, the day-to-day work of the journalists turned into media workers, the friends and obligations of the owners, the confrontation between ethic journalism and the voracity of media.
The danger lies in that this machinery, which was set up for noble reasons, has now been distorted by consumer madness and is out of control, not even its founders can manage it any more.
The company focuses on media, which were established to convey vital information to society but that have turned into a show business, more focused on creating fast truth for the masses than in their genuine initial objective. Their rate of power and influence are proportional to their sale figures. In order to succeed the machinery will not hesitate to manipulate, touch up, filter or darken reality.
Els Joglars, set up in Barcelona by Albert Boadella, Carlota Soldevila and Anton Font in 1961, is one of the oldest and most stable theatre companies in Europe, after 55 years on stage. Their process of creation combines thorough investigation with improvisations that makeup the plot.
