Delphine Galou studied philosophy at the Sorbonne while also studying piano and singing.
She specialised in the Baroque repertoire, collaborating with groups such as Balthasar Neumann (Thomas Hengelbrock), I Barocchisti (Diego Fasolis) and the Accademia Bizantina (Ottavio Dantone), Barroque Orchestra of Venice (Andrea Marcon), El Complejo Barroco (Alan Curtis), Les Siècles (François-Xavier Roth), Les Arts Florissants (William Christie), Le Concert des Nations (Jordi Savall), Ensemble Matheus (JeanChristophe Spinosi), Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski), Le Concert d'Astrée (Emmanuelle Haïm), Galante Europa (Fabio Biondi), Les Talens Lyriques (Christophe Rousset).
Galou is regularly invited by the most important international theatres: Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Covent Garden (London), La Scala di Milano, Staatsoper Berlin, Zurich Opera, Theater an der Wien, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, La Monnaie di Bruxelles, Opera d'Amsterdam.
The contralto has performed the roles of Rinaldo, Giulio Cesare, Orlando furioso, Orfeo, Zenobia, Bradamante, etc.
Her discography includes Il Teuzzone, Orlando and Dario di Vivaldi's Coronation (Naïve), Handel's Alcina and Tamerlano (DVD Alpha), La Concordia dei Pianeti (DGG) by Caldara, Petite Messe Solennelle (Naïve) by Rossini, Niobe di Steffani (Opus Arte), L'Enfant et les Sortilèges by Ravel (Naxos), the St John Passion by Bach (Erato).
Her performance with Ottavio Dantone and the Accademia Bizantina, “Agitata” (Alfa) won the prestigious Gramophone Award in 2018.
