Aarón Ribas was born in Barcelona in 1992. He began his organ studies with his father, Ignacio Ribas. He studied the Higher Degree in Music at the Higher School of Music of Catalonia (ESMuC) with Oscar Candendo. In 2019 he completed his master’s studies at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart under the supervision of Jürgen Essl. He also received other training from teachers such as Juan de la Rubia, Raúl Prieto, Michael Radulescu, Montserrat Torrent, Constantin Volostnov and Ulrich Walther.
In 2013 he won first prize in the organ competition to commemorate Joseph Gabler, held in Ochsenhausen (Germany) and first prize in the 82nd edition of the Spanish Permanent Competition for Young Musical Performers, awarded unanimously by the jury. At this competition, he also obtained a special prize from the EMCY (European Union of Competitions for Youth) for a European tour. For the 2016-2017 season, he was selected by AIE (the Association of Performing Artists) for his Classics in Route series. In 2017 he was a finalist in the Primer Palau series organised by the Palau de la Música Catalana. He recently won second place in the II Francisco Salinas - VIII Centenary of the Cathedral of Burgos national organ competition.
As a solo organist, he regularly performs concerts at important festivals and cathedrals in Europe, such as in Spain, Andorra, France, Germany, Lithuania and Italy. He has performed as a soloist and occasionally collaborated with the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS), the Philharmonic orchestra, the Orchestra and Choir of Madrid, the Spanish Television and Radio Orchestra, the Castile and León Symphony Orchestra and the Spanish Philharmonic Orchestra.
Aarón Ribas is a performer committed to contemporary music for the organ. He has premièred several works by Marc Migó (Barcelona 1993), with whom he jointly worked on the Toccata Ibérica (2016) and the Scherzo des Rusalkas (2017). In September 2021, the Toccata Ibèrica won an award at the international organ composition competition Organ Taurida, held in Saint Petersburg.
Thanks to his knowledge of organ building, he has advised several projects such as the new organ of the Parish Church of Santa Rita in Madrid. He is currently the organist in the Parish Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the neighbourhood of Argüelles and the Parish Church of Santa Rita in Chamberí, Madrid.
