Chang Dance Theatre

Founded in Taipei City in 2011, Chang Dance Theatre is comprised of four brothers —Chien-Hao, Chien-Chih, Chien-Kuei y Ho-Chien—, all graduates from the Dance Department of the Taipei National University of the Arts. This singular familial bond have given rise to a unique artistic approach in which blood ties are intertwined with artistic language imbued with a sensitivity, collaboration and shared identity. Beyond the confines of the dance company, the Chang brothers are also freelance dancers in domestic and international circuits, and their company has gained a reputation for the creative and interpretative capacity of its members and its promotion of interdisciplinary experimentation. The works of this company feature dance that is sincere and brimming with humanity, in which each piece manifests fragments of their life stories. The alliance of Chang Dance Theatre and Carmen Fumero Company came about naturally, through their contact at festivals and choreography competitions in Spain and Europe. In 2019, the two companies coincided at the B.OOM GALA and embarked together on a tour of Taiwan and Malaysia during which they began to forge their close relationship. A year later, Miguel Zomas was invited to Taipei City to take part in La Cara, which was their first shared creative work. In 2023, their association turned into direct collaboration in the project PECES BORROSOS, in which their human and artistic affinity became the driving force of their joint creation. They are united by their shared definition of dance: honest, organic and focussed on the encounter.
