Maestro Martínez-Orts is a composer and conductor specialised in film soundtracks. He is an intelligent, expressive musician who is noted for his exceptional enthusiasm and the passion he conveys in his performances, as proved by the resounding ovations he gets from his thrilled audiences.
He teaches orchestra conducting at Berklee College of Music and is creator of the Film Symphony Orchestra. He has performed in most Spanish theatres and in unusual venues like Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, Palacio Vistalegre or Palacio de los Deportes de Madrid and Palau Sant Jordi de Barcelona. Fond of special projects, he has shared the stage with personalities like Alan Silvestri, Harrison Ford, Hugh Grant, Pablo Alborán, Paz Vega or footballer Roberto Carlos among others.
As a conductor specialising in film music, he conducted Frozen and Back to the Future in concert in Spain. In these shows the soundtrack was played live while the films were being screened.
In 2016 he was advisor and a member of the jury at the Concurso Internacional de composición de bandas sonoras Juan Gil Bodegas Familiares [Juan Gil Bodegas Familiares International Soundtrack Composition Competition], along with fellow jury members Bruce Broughton, Roque Baños or Lucio Godoy.
In 2017 he composed and conducted the original music for the 31st Premios Goya gala.
He has received international awards, including the Moldova International Orchestral Conducting Competition or the 2nd prize at the Craiova International Orchestral Conducting Competition. He has also led the most prestigious European orchestras.
As a composer, he has received the following awards: the “Postgraduate Composers Prize” granted by The London College of Music to the Master’s best composer; “Amadeus” International Composition Competition; “Tomas Luis de Victoria” International Composition Competition; Best Soundtrack at the 31st Mostra de Cine de Valencia; Jerry Goldsmith Award for his work Pax et Bonum among others.
