Opera critics have lauded the extraordinary vocal colour and musical phrasing of mezzo-soprano Cristina Faus.
She collaborates with leading Spanish and international orchestras such as the Boston Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Toronto Philharmonic, and Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, under the baton of conductors including Frühbeck de Burgos, Juanjo Mena, Ros Marbà, García Calvo, Ralf Weikert, and Roberto Abbado. She has taken part in the Rossini Festival in Pesaro and the Tanglewood Festival. She has performed in Japan, at the Ópera de Colombia, the Royal Opera House in Muscat, and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
Her most recent engagements include the following interpretations: Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 conducted by Juanjo Mena with the Spanish National Choir and Orchestra and with the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra; Götterdämmerung at the Oviedo Opera; El barberillo de Lavapiés, Cecilia Valdés and Benamor at the Zarzuela Theatre; Arsace in Rossini's Semiramide at the Royal Opera House; Dalila in Sampson and Delilah at the Roman Theatre of Merida; Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades at Gran Teatre del Liceu, Violante in Don Fernando, el Emplazado at the Royal Theatre, and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at the Quincena Musical festival in San Sebastián, the Maestranza Theatre in Seville and Palau de les Arts in Valencia.
