The cellist and conductor, Enrico Bronzi, was born in Parma in 1973. A member of the Trio di Parma, he has performed an intense schedule of concerts since 1990 in the most important halls in Europe, the United States, South America and Australia (Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Berlin Philharmonie, Wiener Konzerthaus, Kölner Philharmonie, Herkulessaal in Munich, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Wigmore Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and the Teatro Colón, Buenos Aires). The ensemble has successfully contested several international competitions in Florence, Melbourne, Lyon and Munich, and received the ‘Abbiati Prize’ awarded by Italian music critics.
Since 2001, Enrico Bronzi has combined his soloist career with chamber music. He won an award at the Concours International de Violoncelle Rostropovich in Paris and the first prize in the Paulo Cello Competition in Helsinki in 2002. On this occasion, he also received the special prize dedicated to R. Sommer for the best concert performance of Dvorak, performed together with the Helsinki Philharmonic.
He regularly participates in several festivals in Lucerne, Melbourne, Turku, Naantali, Stresa, Ravenna and Lockenhaus. He has performed as a soloist under the baton of C. Abbado, V. Delman, C. Eschenbach, P. Berglund, F. Bruggen and K. Penderecki, and he collaborates with international artists such as Martha Argerich, Alexander Lonquich, Gidon Kremer, Angela Hewitt, Wolfram Christ, Stefan Milenkovich, Joshua Bell, the Hagen Quartet and Giardino Armonico.
He studied conducting with Jorma Panula and he was a guest conductor and soloist with Orchestra Mozart, Camerata Salzburg, Kremerata Baltica, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Orchestra della Toscana, Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro La Fenice, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova and Orchestra Haydn.
For three years, he was the cello soloist of Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He regularly sits on the jury in major competitions, such as the Borciani Award, ‘Trio di Trieste’ Award, Concorso ‘V. Gui’ in Florence and Turku Cello Competition.
Since 2007, Enrico Bronzi has had an intense schedule of pedagogical work as a professor at the Universität Mozarteum of Salzburg. Alongside this, he is the artistic director of the activities of the Fundazione Perugia Musica Classica
