Javi Alonso
Opera disseminator
Javi Alonso is a cultural populariser specialising in opera and zarzuela, appealing especially to new audiences and young spectators. Through his explanatory videos, interviews and podcasts, he has become one of the most relevant voices in the dissemination of opera, with over 24,000 followers on Instagram. He is a frequent collaborator and promoter of the productions of Teatro de la Zarzuela, Les Arts València, Tenerife Opera and Teatro Cervantes in Málaga. In addition, he oversees the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra podcast, in which he explains the symphonic repertoire for each concert. He has also collaborated with institutions such as the Association of Friends of the Opera of Bilbao, the Quincena Musical de San Sebastián festival, the National Classic Theatre Company, and the Almagro International Classical Theatre Festival. Internationally, he has worked with Christof Loy on the promotion of the latter's new zarzuela company, Los Paladines, at Theatre Basel (Switzerland), with Marina Rebeka on the promotion of a recording of Norma for her record company, Prima Classic, and with OperaVision on the European opera streaming platform. He recently presented a live rebroadcast of Carmen from the Royal Theatre in Madrid, featuring Aigul Akhmetshina and Charles Castronovo, and the competition Nuevas Voces en el Teatro de la Maestranza. He has also interviewed relevant opera personalities in Spain and elsewhere, including Alondra de la Parra, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Rossy de Palma, Eleonora Buratto, Xabier Anduaga, Emilio Sagi, Carlos Álvarez, Saioa Hernández, José Miguel Pérez-Sierra, Serena Sáenz, Juan Echanove, Ismael Jordi, and many others. In addition, in November 2025, the publisher Paidós released his first book: Cantar la Historia, in which he reviews the sociocultural history of the 20th century through relevant musicals.
