Jone Martínez

The soprano Jone Martínez, from Sopela -Basque Country, began her vocal training with Olatz Saitua at the Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga Conservatoire in Bilbao.

She holds a degree in Pedagogy of Musical Language and Musical Education and is a graduate in Singing Performance with Maite Arruabarrena and Maciej Pikulski at Musikene, the Higher Conservatoire of Music of the Basque Country, where she received the “Kutxa End of Studies Prize” for best academic record in classical performance at Musikene. Likewise, she has continued her vocal and musical training with Carlos Mena.

She is a regular singer at the Chapel of Santa María, Conductus Ensemble, Pasamezzo Antico and oinuaren Bidaia. As a soloist she collaborates with the Galician Symphony Orchestra, the Burgos Symphony Orchestra, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the RTVE Orchestra and Choir, the City of Granada Orchestra, the Orchestra of Cordoba, the Baroque Orchestra of Seville and La Cetra Barockorchester Basel; she has sung in halls and at festivals such as the San Sebastián Musical Fortnight, the Cuenca Week of Religious Music, the Estella Early Music Week , the Vitoria Early Music Week, the Ziortza Early Music Series, the Early Music Festival of Madrid, the Santander Association of Early Music, the Santander International Festival, the Festival of Torroella, Bilbao Musika-Música Festival, the Turina Hall in Seville, Teatro Arriaga, Euskalduna Conference Centre, the Manuel de Falla Auditorium, the Madrid National Auditorium, the A Coruña Opera Palace, etc.

In recent years, she has performed works such as the “Magnificat” and psalm “Tilge Höchster” by Bach and the “Messiah” by Händel with the Galician Symphony Orchestra; “Orfeo ed Euridice” by Gluck in the City of Granada Orchestra season and the cantata “Herminie” by Arriaga at the Bilbao Musika-Música Festival under the direction of Carlos Mena; the stage work “Vivaldi, poem for strings and two voices” under the stage direction of Calixto Bieito; “Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi alongside La Cetra Barockorchester conducted by Andrea Marcon in Basel: Lieder by Grieg and “Stabat Mater” by Pergolesi in a concert by the season of the Cordoba Orchestra under the direction of Carlos Mena; the “Sur y Norte” programme with works by Pergolesi and Vivaldi under the direction of Enrico Onofri and the Baroque Orchestra of Seville; and the opera “Ifigenia" by Coccia premiered in modern times at the Royal Palace of Madrid alongside the Baroque Orchestra of the University of Salamanca under the direction of Alfredo Bernardini.

She recently performed two concerts in Winterthur and Baden, Switzerland, alongside the Cardinal Complex ensemble, performing the Buxtehude repertoire; and the opera “Orfeo ed Euridice” by Gluck in a concert version along with the Galician Symphony Orchestra, directed by Carlos Mena.
