Choreographer, dancer, and performer. He combined his theatre training (Viento Sur Teatro, Teatro dell'Avogaría) with philosophy studies. He studied dance with Roberta Zerbini, Manuela Nogales and at the CAD under the guidance of Ramón Oller, among others. He worked with companies such as La Imperdible, Thor, La Tarasca, Cel Ras, Excéntrica Producciones, and Cocoondance.
As a choreographer, he produced his first works with the project Mopa: Solitude, Delicatekken, and Danza Extraterrestre. He continued with collaborative works such as Tus hijos me están jodiendo la vida (with Francisco Torres and Roberto Martínez Losa, 2007-2009), Mala suerte o falta de talento (with Raquel Luque, 2008), Wildworking (with Pony Bravo and Fiera, 2008-2009) and (espérame despierto) (with Eloísa Cantón y Juan Kruz Díaz; (premiered in 2009 at the Sarajevo Festival, Best Touring Dance Show in 2009 at Huescaʼ10, Best show and best on stage performers in Seville). In the guided improvisation show Error (2018, Teatro Central, Sevilla), Matilla directs music, technique and choreography from the stage, creating unique shows. His latest shows to premiere have also been collaborative, namely, Cola Collective with Laura Morales and Iñaki Erdicia (Teatro Central, 2021) and San Vito with Pedro Rojas Ogáyar and Ana Sánchez Acebedo (Lope de de Vega, 2022). His approach to theatre language with live music began with the solo Sad Dance Therapy, which was followed by Boh! and the danced concert of Da Mopa. He has also worked as a composer on pieces for Gravita Danza, Hermanas Gestring and Laura Morales.
