JUDITH JÁUREGUI

piano

Character, refinement and light define the pianist Judith Jáuregui. Described by the English magazine “International Piano” as ‘creative intuition’, ‘an imaginative artist, a surprisingly individual performer, who impresses thanks to the maturity of her expression’. For the German media outlet “Piano News”, 'it isn’t only the impeccability of her performance that matters, but rather the feeling of listening to a pianist who truly has something to say’.

Other recent reviews note that in her performance ‘everything is about evocation, suggestion, a happy and dancing voluptuousness’ (Classiquenews), they portray her sound as ‘simply beautiful: it is a festival of polyphony and fluidity, soberness and elegance and a rare intelligence of contrast and nuance’ (Audiophile Magazine) and state that ‘listening to Judith Jáuregui means, above all, discovering a first-class artist, who plays without boundaries and finds her truth in a strong musical power but also in a breathtaking introspection' (Mediapart).

In recent seasons she has been enthusiastically welcomed in internationally renowned halls and festivals, such as the National Auditorium in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Louvre Auditorium in Paris, Flagey in Brussels, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the NCPA in Beijing, the Teatro Mayor in Bogotá, Schloss Elmau in Germany, Murten Classics in Switzerland, the La Roque d'Anthéron Piano Festival in France and the International Festival of Music and Dance in Granada, among others.

She has collaborated with groups such as the Britten Sinfonia, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn, the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie, PFK Prague Philharmonia, Das Neue Orchester Köln, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Sinfonietta, the OFUNAM in Mexico or the Simón Bolívar Orchestra in Venezuela, as well as the main Spanish orchestras such as the Spanish National Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation, the Symphony Orchestra of the Basque Country, the Symphony Orchestra of Castilla y León, the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands or the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra. Likewise, she has had the chance to work with conductors such as Jan Willem de Vriend, Gabriel Bebeselea, Kaspar Zehnder, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Andrey Boreyko, Diego Matheuz, Lina González Granados, Virginia Martínez, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Jaime Martín, Ramón Tebar, Jaume Santonja, Erik Nielsen, Günter Neuhold, and Marc Soustrot.

Born in San Sebastián, she has been linked to different cultures since her childhood: with a Basque mother and father who was Mexican by birth and French by adoption, Judith got started in music in her home city before concluding her studies in Munich, Germany, under the guidance of the Russian maestro Vadim Suchanov.

An artist involved in chamber music, her latest partnerships have been with the Mandelring Quartet, the Signum Quartet, the Gerhard Quartet, the violinist Soyoung Yoon, and the cellist Nadège Rochat.

Her engagements in the 23/24 season notably include collaborations with the Orchestre de Cannes, the Spanish Radio Television Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia. She will also return to concert halls such as the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Auditorio de Tenerife and the Teatro Mayor in Bogotá. In spring 2024, her new album will be released with music by Edvard Grieg and Manuel de Falla recorded with the Symphony Orchestra of Castile and León.

Her previous records reflect her extensive repertoire: from her latest album devoted to Robert and Clara Schumann, which earned her a nomination for the prestigious German Opus Klassik awards in the Soloist Performance of the Year award, to the five previous albums with which she explored authors such as Liszt, Chopin, Debussy, Falla, Mompou, Szymanowski, and Scriabin.
