Frequently praised for her pure and luminous voice, her natural and emotive singing and her elegant phrasing, Nuria Rial has emerged in recent years as one of the supreme voices of the Baroque and classical repertoire. Focussing her efforts on concerts and recording, she has over 30 releases to her credit and has been under an exclusive agreement with Sony Classical since 2009. Her wide-ranging artistic interests include Romantic music, compositions from the 20th and 21st centuries, fusion with styles such as jazz and flamenco, interdisciplinary collaborations and genres such as Lied and opera. She has performed with several world-class conductors, including René Jacobs and Iván Fischer, and with stage directors such as Peter Sellars. Her career has taken her to revered venues such as the Royal Theatre of La Monnaie, the Berlin State Opera, the Theatre of the Champs-Élysées, the Grand Theatre of Geneva, the Carlo Felice Theatre of Genoa and the Royal Theatre of Madrid, where she interpreted roles as varied as the Euridice of Monteverdi's ‘L'Orfeo’, the Pamina of Mozart's "The Magic Flute", and the Nuria of Osvaldo Golijov's ‘Ainadamar’. Having studied in Basel with Kurt Widmer, she frequently performs at the most important concert halls and European festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, Berlin Philharmonie, Berlin Konzerthaus, Theater an der Wien, or the Vienna Musikverein, and with conductors such as Antonini, Bonizzoni, Capuano, Cummings, Currentzis, Equilbey, Fischer, Goodwin, Hengelbrock, Jacobs, Leonhardt, Marriner, Minkowski and Pinnock. She is often sought for collaboration with early-music specialists such as Accademia del Piacere, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Bach Stiftung St. Gallen, Balthassar Neumann Ensemble, Café Zimmermann, Camerata Köln, Concerto Köln, Il Giardino Armonico, Il Pomo d'Oro, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, o The English Concert, and with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Insula Orchestra, Basel Chamber Orchestra, Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, National Orchestra of France, the Spanish National Orchestra and Sinfonieorchester Basel, among others. Her vast discography includes works released on the Harmonia Mundi France and Erato labels, as well as concerts for broadcasters Mezzo and Arte. Her many awards include an Orphée d'Or for her work on the German arias of Händel with Michael Oman y la Austrian Baroque Company, in addition to accolades in the Echo Classical Music Awards and Opus Klassik Awards in several categories, including Young Talent of the Year in 2009 for her recording of Haydn with the Orfeo Barockorchester y Michi Gaiggand Opera Recording of the Year for her CD on Telemann with Kammerorchester Basel.
