At 16, Romain Guyot was named the first clarinet of the European Union Youth Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Abbado. Five years later, he was named the first clarinet of the Orchester National de l’Opéra de Paris, where he remained until 2001. In 1996 he won the Young Concert Artist International Auditions in New York, one of the greatest honors for a young soloist, as well as the Munich ARD contest with the Debussy Wind Quintet. As a soloist, Romain has played in Europe, Japan, Korea, China, South America and the United States. He has performed a large part of the clarinet repetoire with orchestras and chamber groups. He currently teaches at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève, in Switzerland, and at the National University of Seoul, Korea. In addition, he is the first clarinet of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
