Tim Gill

He studied at the University of Cambridge, Royal Academy of Music and Banff Center (Canada), making his debut at the South Bank and Wigmore Hall at age 20. In 2001 he won the position of first cello of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and two years later he did the same at the London Sinfonietta, where he has obtained critical acclaim for his performances of Stravinsky, Xenakis and Maxwell Davies. In 2011, he won the position of first cello of the English National Opera. Now he works independently in London, focusing on his commitments of chamber music and as a soloist, while maintaining his position at the Sinfonietta in London. His most recent engagements included appearances on the BBC PROMS and the Cello Unwrapped series at Kings Place (London).
