The pianist, nominated for a 2019 Latin Grammy, is to perform this Friday in the Chamber Hall
Auditorio de Tenerife’s jazz programming for 2026 is to begin this Friday (16 January) at 7:30 p.m. in the venue’s Chamber Hall. The concert, titled Dedication II, will consist of a performance of the most recent work of Moisés P. Sánchez, who is among the most highly acclaimed musicians in Spain and Europe. With his own musical language and a rich blending of the most diverse influences, his creations transcend the traditional borders between genres and surprise listeners with the arsenal of resources on which they are built as well as their fascinating vitality and originality.
Dedication, recorded in New York and released on the Universal label in 2010, reflected the musical horizon of Moisés P. Sánchez. Now, 15 years and thousands of experiences later, Sánchez and his bandmates are back with the same quartet formation to give testimony in the Auditorio de Tenerife of what they have learned and unlearned in a new album that they are touring.
This most recent album of Moisés P. Sánchez is comprised of tracks brimming with vitality and expressiveness. After its release in Germany and premier in the National Music Auditorium in Madrid, the album was presented in other Spanish cities such as Huesca and Valencia, and the quartet also performed in Athens.
His playing is a compendium of musical styles. His own style is that of a restless soul expressed through a wide and deep knowledge base, limitless instrumental capacity and sensibility connected to a beautiful and poetic inner world. A solid group of musicians will back him in this concert: bassist Toño Miguel, drummer Borja Barrueta and tenor saxophonist Javier Vercher.
Moisés is a composer, music producer, pianist, improviser and arranger, and his album Unbalanced: concerto for ensemble was nominated for a 2019 Latin Grammy. He also won Spain’s MIN Independent Music awards in 2017 and 2022, in addition to other important acknowledgments in the United States and Spain. He was artist-in-residence of the 2022–23 season of Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical.
