The music disseminator will focus his Tuesday talk in the Chamber Hall on the opera based on Lorca’s play
The music communicator Ramón Gener will be back at the Auditorio de Tenerife next Tuesday (September 30) at 7.30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall to present the European premiere of Yerma. Gener’s opening talk of the season will focus on the opera based on Federico García Lorca’s play, with tickets for the event now sold out.
Composed in 1956 by the Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos, Yerma is an opera that has not seen performances outside the American continent. Ópera de Tenerife launches its season with this co-production by the Auditorio de Tenerife, the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the Amazonas Opera Festival (Manaus, Brazil), and the Opera Festival do Theatro da Paz (Belém, Brazil). The performances will take place on 14th, 16th, 17th and 18th October at 7.30 p.m. in the Symphony Hall.
Ramón Gener, also a writer and singer, will visit the island to make seven appearances throughout this season to review the programmes with his characteristic talks, featuring audiovisual presentations, voice and piano performances, and reflections.
Born in Barcelona, Ramón Gener has a degree in humanities and business studies. He began his musical education at the Higher Conservatoire of Music of the Liceu at the age of six. After several years of performing as a baritone, he transitioned to a new role as a music educator. He offers lectures on opera, classical music, and art, which have been featured on radio and television, both locally and internationally. Gener has published four books: Si Beethoven pudiera escucharme (2013), El amor te hará inmortal (2016), Beethoven, un músico sobre un mar de nubes (2020) and Historia de un piano (2024).
