The programme, entitled ˊPaisajesˊ features works by Mompou, Albéniz, Granados, Kapustin and Gershwin
The Auditorio de Tenerife has scheduled the last piano recital of the year, Paisajes, for next Tuesday (9 November), to be performed by Tenerife-born pianist Luis López. Starting at 7.30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall, the pianist will perform music by Frederic Mompou, Enrique Granados, Isaac Albéniz, Nikolai Kapustin and George Gershwin.
Throughout his career, López has received multiple international accolades and acknowledgements, including a nomination to the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards for Best Classical Album.
The year’s final piano recital will open with Mompou’s Música callada and Paisajes, followed by Granados’s Valses poéticos. After the interlude, López will continue with Albéniz’s renowned Iberia suite, then shift to a selection from Kapustin’s Jazz Styles preludes. The evening will close with Gershwin’s Three Preludes for piano.
Luis López studied piano at the Higher Music Conservatory of the Canaries. His piano training continued with Piotr Szychowski, and he studied chamber music with Michal Francuz at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan, Poland, where he earned an MA with Distinction. López has attended masterclasses with acclaimed pianists such as María Joao Pires, Guillermo González, Gustavo Díaz Jerez, Iván Martín, Roberta Bambace, Wolfgang Wagenhäuser, Massimiliano Mainolfi, and Teruyuki Okada.
Likewise, he has performed as a solo artist in venues of distinction throughout the United States, Japan, Lithuania, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Croatia, and the United Kingdom. He has also participated in music festivals such as the Sunday Concert Recitals in Manhattan, New York; the 8th Halina Czerny-Stefańska Memorial in Japan; the European Music Festival in Hagen, Germany; the Bechstein Piano Recital Series in the United Kingdom; and the Festival Pianistico di Primavera in Cuneo, Italy.
