Dance performances, the La Salita’s theatrical programme, and innovative research provide the framework of the season.

August 19, 2025. The Auditorio de Tenerife announces its performing arts programming for the 2025–2026 season: 92 showings, as well as 13 artist residencies and theatre laboratories. Dance and theatre performances scheduled for September and October are now on sale. The details were announced by the Councillor for Cultural Affairs of the Tenerife Island Council, José Carlos Acha, and the Artistic Director of the cultural institution, José Luis Rivero.

José Carlos Acha explained that ‘this initiative joins the 57 concerts in its main season, the 35 performances staged by Ópera de Tenerife, and 25 of the concerts by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife.’ The councillor praised the wide range and abundance of programming the Auditorio provides to the island’s community. It acknowledged ‘the daily artistic and technical efforts that go unseen by the audience.’ He remarked, ‘Few auditoriums have the operational capacity and level of work that ours showcases every season.’

José Luis Rivero emphasised that the performing arts represent ‘the third core area of the Auditorio de Tenerife, alongside opera and music, focusing on the languages of body and speech. This season we will present seven new original theatrical and dance productions.’ In addition, he highlighted that ‘the Auditorio de Tenerife stands as the largest artistic production hub in the Canary Islands and one of the foremost in Spain, leveraging its extensive experience for the benefit of the sector.’

Rivero referred to La Salita’s consolidation, ‘through a steady weekly schedule of text theatre characterized by its small format, intensity, intimacy, and commitment to social, political, dissident, feminist issues which make diversity visible.’

Artistic residencies and theatre labs complement this programming, ‘a practice the Auditorio has pursued for 22 years, and which we continue at La Salita by providing artists with space, time, and the necessary human, financial, and technical resources to support research and the potential creation of new works.’

The season opens on September 6 and 7 in the Symphony Hall with the debut of Peces Borrosos, a production of Auditorio de Tenerife showcasing the dance companies of Tenerife’s Carmen Fumero and Taiwan’s Chang Dance Theatre. The performance takes the stage outdoors with Maña from the Manuel Alcántara company, a blend of circus and performance art, scheduled for September 20 and 21 at the square of the Auditorio.

La Salita hall kicks off its season on September 25, 26, and 28 with the play Carmen, nada de nadie, which tells the real story of Carmen Díez Rivera, the chief of staff during Spain’s transition government. October’s theatre lineup features Las niñas zombi by Celso Giménez and the company La tristura, followed by Libros cruzados from Delirium Teatro, and Sombras, por supuesto by El Silencio company.

The Symphony Hall will host Prélude on Sunday, October 26, performed by the French Accrorap Company. Kader Attou, the choreographer, invites about ten professional hip-hop dancers from the southern region to explore his distinctive artistic universe.

La Salita will carry on its season in October, November, December, and January with Memento mori o la celebración de la muerte, by Sergio Blanco; Oveja perdida, ven sobre mis hombros que hoy no sólo tu pastor soy sino tu pasto también, by Chamán Producciones; Marcela (Una canción de Cervantes), by the Sociedad Cervantina; Helen Keller, ¿la mujer maravilla?, staged by the company Chévere; ¿Sigue peinándose siempre de la misma manera la cantante calva?, by El Desleal; Tebas Land, by Timbre 4; Romeo y Julieta de bolsillo and El sueño, by Criolla Company; Violencia, by Diego Garrido Sanz; and Misterio del Cristo de los Gascones, by Nao d’amores.

From February through June, the theater season showcases Las apariciones by Fernando Delgado-Hierro; the première of Take Off, the new show by Jose Padilla, produced by the Auditorio de Tenerife; Hoy tengo algo que hacer, by Teatro del Barrio; Equilibrium by the Delio Island company; El enterrador, by Gerard Vázquez and Pepe Zapata; Las pequeñas mudanzas, by Vanessa Espín; Filtro and Dysphoria, by María Goiricelaya; Terra do fogo by Hotel Europa; La gran cacería, by Juan Mayorga; and La jácara de los cuerpos imposibles, by Alberto Velasco.

The Threepenny Opera, a co-production between Teatro Pérez Galdós, Barco Pirata, Unahoramenos, and the Auditorio de Tenerife, will be staged in February at the Symphony Hall. The classic by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill is directed by Mario Vega, with musician and composer Coque Malla in the lead role.

Dance programming for June and July features the co-production La argentina en París 2, by the Antonio Najarro Company, with the Sinfónica de Tenerife; Bogotá, a work by the young choreographer Andrea Peña’s company; and La Quijá, performed by the Extremadura company of Paloma Muñoz.

The season comes to a close with two outstanding highlights led by the celebrated Göteborg Opera Dance Company. On July 11 and 12, the Symphony Hall will host Hammer, a creation by choreographer Alexander Ekman. Then, on Tuesday, July 14, in a one-night-only event, audiences can experience a double program: Ima by Sharon Eyal and Wild Poetry by Hofesh Shechter.

As for the area of artistic residencies and theatre laboratories, La Salita hall will host 13 creative processes between September and June. The Auditorio will welcome a diverse roster of artists and companies, among them Carmen Fumero, Acerina Amador, La Tristura Company, Delirium Teatro, Daniasa Curbelo with Larisa Pérez Flores, Dailo Barco with Claudia Bliss, Jose Padilla, Delio Island Company, Mario Vega, Luis O’Malley, and Aranza Coello.
