The Chamber Hall hosts the wind bands La Candelaria (Arafo), Nueva Unión (Los Silos) and Crearte (La Laguna)
On Sunday, 25 May, over a hundred musicians will participate in the tenth concert as part of this annual Primavera Musical concert cycle, organised by the wind bands federation ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’ with the support of the Tenerife Island Council. The event, starting at 11.30 p.m., will feature the participation of the concert bands La Candelaria (Arafo), Nueva Unión (Los Silos) and Crearte (Tejina, La Laguna).
Over ninety years of tradition stand behind the wind band ‘Agrupación Artístico Musical La Candelaria’ from Arafo, who, under the baton of Carlos Daniel Albertos Fernández, will interpret Flores de España by Pascual Pérez Choví. The Witch and The Saint, by Steven Reineke, and Slava! by Leonard Bernstein.
Juan María Bolaños Polegre conducts the ensemble ‘Agrupación Musical Nueva Unión’ from Los Silos. With a rich history of more than 125 years, this centenary band will be the second to take to the stage this Sunday, performing Tercio de Quites by Rafael Talens Pelló, The Baltic Way by Jaan de Haan, and Malagueña by Ernesto Lecuona and Marian Banks, arranged by Michael Story.
The wind band ‘Asociación Cultural y Musical Crearte’, founded in 2012, will close the concert. With Cristina Doro García at the helm, the ensemble has chosen these three pieces from its repertoire: Ride, by Samuel R. Hazo; Palindromía Flamenca, by A Ruda Peco, with Christian Yeray García Reyes as a soloist, El Cumbanchero, by Rafael Hernández, arranged by Naohiro Iwai.
This year’s Primavera Musical cycle is approaching its finale. On the first Sunday of June, audiences will have the chance to enjoy performances by the bands Las Candelas (Candelaria), Santísimo Cristo de El Calvario (El Tanque), and Nuestra Señora de Lourdes (Valle de Guerra, La Laguna).
