The three ensembles taking part come from Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla, and La Matanza
The Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife will host the sixth event of the Primavera Musical cycle tomorrow (Sunday, 27th) at 11:30 a.m., featuring wind bands affiliated with the wind bands federation ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’, which organises the series with the support of the Tenerife Island Council. On this occasion, three musical ensembles will come together, each originating from municipalities in the north of the island and tracing their roots back to the nineteenth century.
The first band to perform is the ‘Filarmónica’ from Los Realejos, a distinguished ensemble whose origins date back to 1847. Today, the ensemble consists of around fifty musicians under the baton of Adán Pérez García. The band’s programme will include three works: Tudmir, a Moorish march composed by José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana; Ritmos del corazón, arranged by Adán Pérez and featuring Nicolás Pérez Luis as tenor saxophone soloist; and the pasodoble La Alhambra by Llano.
The ensemble ‘Asociación Artística Alcaraván’ from San Juan de la Rambla traces its history back to around 1870. Under the direction of Miguel Ángel Arrocha Rodríguez, the wind band will open their programme with Echeyde by José Luis Peiró Reig. This piece was awarded second prize in the 6th Composition Competition organised last year by the Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música. Around the World in 80 Days by Austrian composer Otto Martin Schwarz and Arabian Dances by Roland Barrett are the other two pieces that the San Juan de la Rambla ensemble will perform.
Also taking part in tomorrow’s Chamber Hall concert is the wind band ‘Sociedad Musical El Salvador’, established in 1850. Conducted by Ismael Brajín, this ensemble of around thirty musicians will perform Granada by Agustín Lara, arranged by Robert Longfield, and two works by Dutch composer Jacob de Haan: Dakota and Mamma Mia.
The seventh session of the Primavera Musical cycle will feature performances by the wind bands ‘Agrupación Musical Orotava’, the ‘Asociación Cultural Unión y Amistad’ from Santa Cruz, and the ‘Sociedad Amigos del Arte’ from the San Andrés district of the capital. The concert is scheduled for 4th May at 11.30 a.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
