This performance is part of the Primavera Musical cycle, organised by the wind bands federation ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’
The wind bands ‘Agrupación Orotava’, the ‘Asociación Cultural Unión y Amistad’ from Santa Cruz and the ‘Amigos del Arte’ from San Andrés, Santa Cruz, will be the three ensembles performing this Sunday, 4 May, as part of the Primavera Musical cycle. The concert will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife and is organised by the Wind Bands Federation ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’ with the support of the Tenerife Island Council.
Julio Castañeda Fumero has led the ‘Agrupación Musical Orotava’ ensemble since 2009. This wind band, which will open the concert and feature over 60 musicians, dates back to 1842. For this event, they have prepared three works: the Moorish march, Hans by Hugo Chinesta, Celebration and Dance by James Swearingen, and La Quintessenza by Johan de Meij.
The ‘Asociación Cultural Unión y Amistad’ from Santa Cruz will be the second concert band to take the stage in the Chamber Hall this Sunday. Under the direction of Iván Yeray Rodríguez Martín, this ensemble of 40 musicians, celebrated for over thirty years of musical activity, will perform two works from its repertoire: the symphonic poem Poenitentiacite by José Manuel Encinoso Fernández and Conga del Fuego Nuevo by Arturo Márquez, arranged by Oliver Nickel.
Bringing the concert to a close, the wind band ‘Amigos del Arte’ from San Andrés, in the capital area, will perform three works: Waltz No. 2 by Dmitri Shostakovich, arranged by Johan de Meij; The Witch and the Saint by Steven Reineke; and La leyenda del beso by Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert, arranged by José Luis Represas.
Three ensembles will take part in the eighth event of the Primavera Musical cycle, scheduled for 11 May at the Auditorio de Tenerife: the ensemble ‘Agrupación Amigos del Arte’ from Güímar, the concert band ‘José Reyes Martín’ from Granadilla, and the wind band from Santiago del Teide.
