Eighteen ensembles will perform at the Auditorio de Tenerife, in an initiative promoted by the Tenerife wind bands federation.
The Auditorio de Tenerife hosts 507 musicians this weekend for the ‘XVII Encuentro de Bandas de Música Juveniles’ (17th Youth Wind Bands Meeting) on the island. The concerts will be held over five sessions: the first on Friday at 6.00 p.m., followed by double sessions on Saturday and Sunday at 11.30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. This event, organised by the Wind Bands Federation ‘Federación Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música’ with the support of the Tenerife Island Council, will take place in the Chamber Hall. Entry is free until full capacity is reached.
The musicians taking part represent seventeen ensembles from the municipalities of La Guancha, San Juan de la Rambla, Santa Úrsula, La Laguna, Buenavista, El Rosario, Candelaria, Los Realejos, Tegueste, Arona, Arafo, Garachico, Güímar and the Daute Isla Baja Regional Music School. An invitation has also been extended to the Symphonic Band of the Professional Conservatoire of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The concerts start on Friday at 6.00 p.m., featuring four bands: Instrumental Ensemble of the Municipal School of Music of La Guancha, San José (San Juan de la Rambla), Ernesto Beteta (Santa Úrsula) and Crearte (Tejina, La Laguna), directed by Emilio José Falcón, Damián González, Carlota Fumero and Néstor Rivero.
On Saturday, seven ensembles will take to the stage, split across two sessions. At 11.30 a.m., the programme opens with the José Mesa Cabrera band (La Cruz Santa, Los Realejos), conducted by Moisés Real. It continues with the Buenavista del Norte band, led by Nareme Rodríguez, and the Princesa Yaiza band (El Rosario) under conductor Taida Gil.
In the afternoon, starting at 6.00 p.m., the wind band Las Candelas (Candelaria), under the direction of Adrián Jesús Castellano, can be heard, followed by the Alejandra Poleo band and Escuela Comarcal Daute Isla Baja, led by Juana Bolaños, the youth formation of the Filarmónica de Los Realejos with Nareme Rodríguez at the helm, and concluding with the San Marcos band (Tegueste) directed by Gabriela Baute.
The final day of this event begins at 11.30 a.m. with the concert bands of Arona, Arafo and Garachico, conducted by José Luis Domínguez, Juan Carlos Pérez and José Eduardo Morales, respectively. In the evening, at 6.00 p.m., the Symphonic Band of the Professional Conservatoire of Music in Santa Cruz de Tenerife will open the session under the baton of Sergio Díaz, followed by the Miguel Reyes band (Güímar), conducted by Juan Carlos Rodríguez. The 17th meeting will conclude with a performance by the Patronato de Música Nuestra Señora de Lourdes band (Valle de Guerra, La Laguna).
