Tickets for ˋMisterio del Cristo de los Gasconesˊ by Nao d’amores, Premio Nacional winners, are sold out.

The Auditorio de Tenerife is presenting three performances of Misterio del Cristo de los Gascones, in its theatre space La Salita. Tickets are already sold out. The show by the Spanish National Theatre award 2023 winners Nao d’amores takes place Friday (January 23) and Saturday (January 24) at 7.30 p.m., and Sunday (January 25) at 12.00 noon. Friday’s show ends with a public talk moderated by Canary Islands Actors School students, via collaboration agreement.

Misterio del Cristo de los Gascones is the company’s most emblematic work. Founded in 2001, the troupe specializes in Medieval and Renaissance theatre and has successfully staged Spanish Pre-Baroque plays.

The play has received awards and toured Europe and America. It explores early theatre while providing spectators an absolute contemporary perspective. This free adaptation is based on the religious ceremony once performed at San Justo church in Segovia during the Middle Ages, which led to the commissioning of the Cristo de los Gascones sculpture, a significant work among the most essential pieces of Spanish Romanesque religious art.

The script draws on historical texts from various sources and features live musical performances informed by research into the origins and nature of these ceremonies. The production blends stage acting and puppetry, offering spectators insight into the roots of modern theatre. Misterio del Cristo de los Gascones honours Spain’s unique ‘Living Heritage’ interpreted through an absolutely contemporary lens.

Tickets are now on sale for La Salita’s next shows: Las apariciones by La_Compañía exlímite and Take off [Nada de esto tuvo que haber ocurrido] by Jose Padilla.

The tickets can be purchased at a single price of €8 and €5 for audiences under 30 on the website www.auditoriodetenerife.com, at the auditorium’s box office, or by dialling the phone number 902 317 327 from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
