HAMMER

As part of the Mapas programme, Auditorio de Tenerife presents Hammer, a choreography by Alexander Ekman featuring 31 dancers from the Göteborgsoperans Danskompani company.

The greatest hit ever for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, with euphoric audiences attending sold-out shows in 2022. Hammer is a two-act evening spent with GöteborgsOperans Danskompani – an unerring dance work that takes us from a state of selfless harmony offline to self-conscious egomania online, and back again. It might inspire us to break through fake facades and choose life instead of likes.

Multi-award-winning choreographer Alexander Ekman is bold, unpredictable and innovative – just like GöteborgsOperans Danskompani. His visually powerful work turns a spotlight on contemporary society’s self-image, often with a humorous twist. He makes us laugh at ourselves, but perhaps even more at others. Ekman has created around 50 works, which have been performed by almost as many companies worldwide. Hammer is his third creation for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
