ima & Wild Poetry

As part of its Mapas programme, Auditorio de Tenerife presents the double offering of GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, comprising the works Wild Poetry by Hofesh Shechter and ima by Sharon Eyal.

Wild Poetry, with its 16 dancers onstage, is a work of choreographer Hofesh Shechter, His work blurs the border between parody and sincerity. The dancers are in perpetual movement, sometimes as a phantasmagorical group and sometimes as individual stars, transforming the experience through new expressions, like a raging sea from which new images emerge. Wild Poetry is Hofesh Shecther’s second work for GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, after Contemporary Dance (2019), and has been praised by both critics and audiences. Since its premiere in 2023 the piece has been performed in among other places Lyon, The Hauge, Baden Baden, St. Pölten and at Kuopio Dance Festival.

ima is a Sharon Eyal creation. She is a choreographer whose creations offer mesmerising dance with a strong attitude and hypnotic, pulsating power. Eyal and GöteborgsOperans Danskompani are a match that has toured worldwide. Their previous collaboration, SAABA, premiered in 2021 and has since made guest appearances to great acclaim in London, Paris, Sydney, and Seoul. For ima Eyal once again collaborated with Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s former chief designer, who created the costumes for SAABA. Their work together on Dior’s seasonal fashion collections stands out among their previous collaborations.
