Specialised initiative to highlight works of artists, theatrical troupes and cultural projects originating in Tenerife

Auditorio de Tenerife will support the launch and growth of a publishing project focused on opera, performing arts, and music. The project aims to expand artistic efforts through research and publication of theatrical works.

Tenerife Island Councillor for Cultural Affairs José Carlos Acha said, ‘The creation of this publishing initiative is among Tenerife Island Council’s strategic objectives to promote culture through its strategy regarding performing arts and music. This new channel of dissemination will strengthen the sector’s research and visibility’, he added.

The initiative aims to consolidate a Tenerife-based publisher that produces and disseminates research and creation related to the island’s performing arts and music. In this way, the initiative is to supplement the Auditorio’s programmes by making processes, commissions and productions available in publishable materials, particularly those associated with theatrical works resulting from artist residencies or research, along with the commissioned texts.

Acha said, ‘This initiative will reinforce our leadership in this season’s opera, performing arts, and music, and establish Auditorio de Tenerife as a recognised Spanish-language authority, confirming our influence before media, officials, and sponsors.’ He also stated the project would serve as a platform to publish a contemporary repertoire and make local artists’ creativity available to the public

As part of the publishing initiative, the Auditorio de Tenerife also intends to reach agreements with publishing houses and cultural networks at home and abroad on the joint publication of works, increased distribution, and the consolidation of institutional cooperation. The first such publication to be released this year is research undertaken by Tenerife-born playwright Jose Padilla for the creation of his play Take off [Nada de esto tuvo que haber ocurrido], which is to premiere in the Auditorio’s La Salita hall in a run from 6 to 15 March. The presentation of the publication will take place on Monday, 9 March, at 6 p.m. at the Auditorio de Tenerife.
