Ghost-Note
Synopsis
As part of the 35th Canary Islands’ International Jazz & Más Festival, the Auditorio de Tenerife will host a concert by Ghost-Note, an explosive funk ensemble. The group visits the archipelago to perform Mustard n’Onions (2024), its latest recording, in a show full of rhythm and energy. Led by percussionists Robert ‘Sput’ Searight and Nate Werth, members of Snarky Puppy, the band fuses contemporary funk with afrobeat, hip-hop, and jazz to create vibrant dance music and a dynamic sound.
Ghost-Note is among the most innovative groups on the funk scene. Led by percussionists Robert ‘Sput’ Searight and Nate Werth—Grammy-awarded artists with Snarky Puppy—, the band operates with next-level musicians associated with artists such as Prince, Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar.
The group’s music builds on the foundations of funk laid down by artists such as James Brown and Sly & The Family Stone, taking this approach to the present through the incorporation of afrobeat, hip-hop, psychedelia and world folklore. The albums Fortified and Swagism were warmly received internationally and reached top positions on the iTunes jazz charts.
In its live performances, the band delivers intensity and liberation, focusing on irresistible grooves and nonstop interaction with the public. This will be no ordinary concert, as Ghost-Note is known for its immersive, rhythmic experiences that pull spectators in, get them moving and take them away.
