The vocal and piano event with the Catalan expert will take place on Wednesday 10 June at 7.30 pm in the Chamber Hall

The Auditorio de Tenerife has scheduled a talk by Ramón Gener for next Wednesday (10 June) at 7.30 pm in the Chamber Hall to discuss ‘La verbena de la Paloma’. Tomás Breton’s zarzuela will be analysed by the Catalan cultural commentator in one of his characteristic lectures, featuring audio-visual support, piano and vocal performances, anecdotes and reflections.

The writer will also share with the audience all the key aspects of this well-known work from the traditional Spanish lyrical genre. The Madrid-based Teatro de la Zarzuela’s production of La verbena de la Paloma brings the 2025–2026 season of Ópera de Tenerife to a close with performances on 25, 26 and 27 June in the Symphony Hall.

Tickets for these presentations by Gener cost eight euros for the general public and five euros for those under 30. There is also a 50% discount for members of the Club Ópera 25-26, reducing the ticket price to four euros. Tickets can be purchased on the website www.auditoriodetenerife.com, at the box office from Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 17.00 and on Saturdays from 10.00 to 14.00, and by telephone on 902 317 327 during the same hours.

Ramón Gener was born in Barcelona and holds degrees in Humanities and Business Studies. He began his musical studies at the age of six at the Liceu Conservatory of Music. After several years as a baritone, he stopped singing and moved into music education, giving lectures on opera, classical music and art, which have taken him to radio and television, including on an international stage. He has published four books: Si Beethoven pudiera escucharme (If Beethoven Could Hear Me) (2013), El amor te hará inmortal (Love Will Make You Immortal) (2016), Beethoven, un músico sobre un mar de nubes (Beethoven, a Musician on a Sea of Clouds) (2020) and Historia de un piano (The Story of a Piano) (2024).
