The concert, part of the Tensamba Festival, takes place on Saturday 7 November
The Auditorio de Tenerife welcomes Márcio Faraco, one of the leading figures in Brazilian popular music, to its Chamber Music Hall on Saturday 7 November at 7.30 pm. The concert, which closes this year’s Tensamba Festival, will showcase Faraco’s distinctive dialogue between Brazilian music and jazz, accompanied by pianist Laurent de Oliveira.
This latest work reinforces the artist’s deep dedication to the ongoing exploration of fado in all its forms. Inspired by the voice, the female figure and the genre’s expressive richness, the artist opens the door to the coexistence of experimental music within fado on this album, which features eleven tracks, eight of which were composed by Carminho herself.
This intimate performance for voice, guitar and piano takes audiences on a journey through the musical influences that have shaped Faraco’s career. His music draws on the Brazilian song tradition, the subtlety of bossa nova, the rhythms of samba and the expressive possibilities of jazz, combining his musical roots with a distinctive artistic voice.
With an extensive international career, Márcio Faraco has established himself as a leading figure in contemporary Brazilian popular music (MPB). His approach places particular emphasis on songwriting, expressive interpretation and the poetic qualities of his lyrics. Elegant arrangements and an individual take on Brazilian rhythms characterise his music, which embraces a range of influences while remaining true to his artistic identity.
For this concert, Faraco joins forces with pianist Laurent de Oliveira to explore new musical textures and nuances. Guitar, voice and piano come together in an intimate dialogue, celebrating the richness of Brazilian music in a performance combining subtlety, rhythm and expressive depth.
The concert is part of the 23rd Tensamba Festival, which introduces audiences in the Canary Islands to Brazilian culture through music and the arts, connecting Brazilian traditions with contemporary forms of expression. The festival is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, through Promotur Islas Canarias and the ICDC, as well as the Tenerife Island Council and La Laguna Town Council.
