The Bernardo Parrilla Quintet performs on Friday 9 October, followed by the Cristopher Pérez Quartet on Saturday 10 October
Auditorio de Tenerife hosts two Canarias Jazz Showroom concerts this weekend. The Bernardo Parrilla Quintet performs on Friday 9 October, at 7.30 pm in the Chamber Music Hall. The Cristopher Pérez Quartet takes to the same stage on Saturday 10 October at 7.30 pm, followed by a further live performance, Swing, Swing, Swing, in the venue’s foyer.
Five musicians with varied careers and musical backgrounds come together for Perocheando (2024), Bernardo Parrilla’s project celebrating the cultural and musical exchange between Andalusia and the Americas. The concert takes audiences on a journey through the songs and rhythms born of encounters between these regions. The quintet comprises Amparo Lagares (vocals), Guillermo McGill (drums), Álvaro Gandul (piano), Daniel Abad (double bass) and Bernardo Parrilla (wind instruments).
The ensemble blends jazz, flamenco and Latin American musical traditions, weaving their distinctive rhythms and idioms into its compositions. The interplay between the five musicians, particularly during improvised passages, makes every performance a unique experience.
On Saturday, the Cristopher Pérez Quartet takes to the stage, featuring Cristopher Pérez (tenor saxophone), Guillaume Coulbois (piano), David Muñoz (double bass) and Daniel Pimenta (drums). The group presents contemporary jazz with a distinctive voice and a musical narrative that began in Lanzarote and developed in Barcelona. The result is an intense, evocative performance.
Following the quartet’s concert, Swing, Swing, Swing will take place in the Auditorio de Tenerife foyer, with free admission subject to capacity. The line-up features Iván Rojas (guitar), Agustín Buenafuente (double bass), Carlos Pérez (drums), Jairo Cabrera (trumpet), Kike Perdomo (saxophone) and Olga Salud (vocals).
