The Argentine theatre company returns to the Auditorio de Tenerife after selling out all three performances during its previous visit in 2025.
Argentine theatre company Compañía Criolla returns to Tenerife with its acclaimed production El brote, with all three performances already sold out. The play will be staged at La Salita in the Auditorio de Tenerife on Friday (23 October) and Saturday (24 October) at 7.30 pm, and on Sunday (25 October) at 12 noon. The production has enjoyed international success, won numerous awards and earned widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Friday’s performance will be followed by a post-show discussion with the audience.
El brote was previously staged at La Salita in April 2025, when all three performances also sold out, proving a resounding success with Tenerife audiences. The play centres on an actor, portrayed by Roberto Peloni, whose perception of reality begins to unravel as the boundaries between fiction and real life become increasingly blurred. He gradually grows suspicious of the person who appears to be writing the script of his own existence.
A major success on the Buenos Aires theatre scene, El brote has attracted considerable attention from audiences and theatre critics. Founded in 2009, Compañía Criolla has established itself as one of Argentina’s most prolific and acclaimed theatre companies. Its notable productions include Sueño, Recuerdos a la hora de la siesta, Cyrano de más acá, Los monstruos, El apego and Romeo y Julieta de bolsillo, which have received numerous awards and distinctions in Argentina and internationally. The company regularly participates in festivals, conferences, arts events and established theatre programmes.
Roberto Peloni, the sole performer in El brote, is widely regarded as one of the leading actors of his generation. His stage credits include Siglo de oro trans, Shrek the Musical, El cabaret de los hombres perdidos, La Parka, Sweeney Todd, Beauty and the Beast and The Phantom of the Opera. His television work includes La peña de Morfi, while his film credits include Mi obra maestra and La sombra del gato.
Emiliano Dionisi, the playwright and director of both the production and the company, completed a diploma in playwriting at the Paco Urondo Cultural Centre, part of the Faculty of Philosophy and Literature at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). His productions have been staged in publicly funded, independent and commercial theatres, and his plays have been performed in Mexico, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and Spain.
