Tenerife will host one of the ten concerts organised by the Spanish Royal Household to celebrate the tenth anniversary of His Majesty King Felipe VI's proclamation. The free event, with the slogan Diez años, diez conciertos (Ten years, ten concerts), is open to all citizens and will feature the outstanding participation of the Royal Guard Music Unit, one of the oldest and most prestigious ensembles in Europe.
The tour started in Madrid and Burgos and will now visit Tenerife. This is the first time that this Music Unit, with more than a century of history, will perform in the Canary Islands. The Royal Guard Music Unit has given concerts in numerous cities in Spain and on major stages in Europe, including England, France, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Romania, Russia, and Switzerland.
Well-known for its ability to combine classical music with performances of great cultural relevance, the Royal Guard Music Unit acts as a musical ambassador of the Spanish Armed Forces. More than 120 professional musicians, all selected from among the best non-commissioned officers of the Military Music Corps, guarantee a high level of excellence in their performances. The Royal Guard Music Unit is a key part of ceremonial acts, honouring Their Majesties, the King and Queen, at official events, receptions and parades. It also accompanies visits of foreign heads of state in protocol ceremonies. It participates in the solemn changing of the Royal Guard at the Royal Palace in Madrid, providing a musical backdrop that enriches this traditional act.
