Synopsis

Some programmes unfold along the boundary between downfall and redemption. The evening opens with In the Aftermath of Gravity, the world premiere of a work by Helga Arias, performed by the Sinfónica de Tenerife. With Les Préludes, Liszt poses an enduring question: what is life but a succession of struggles, loves, storms and renewals?

The lyrical heart of the programme is Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, one of the great masterpieces of the Romantic violin repertoire. Daniel Hope, a violinist of exceptional artistic personality, brings his noble, expressive sound to a score whose emotional power arises from a rare combination of elegance, ardour and lyricism.

The evening concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini, inspired by one of the most dramatic episodes of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Here, romantic tragedy is transformed into orchestral exhilaration. Manuel Hernández Silva conducts a programme that traces a path through passion, destiny and the possibility of renewal.
