Synopsis
La Salita opens its 2026–27 season with the revival of Libros cruzados (Bookcrossing), by Antonio Tabares and Delirium Teatro. Following the first performance on Friday, there will be a discussion with the audience.
Bookcrossing is practised all over the world. It involves leaving a book in a public place—a street, a park, an airport…—for someone else to find and read before leaving it somewhere new, creating a chain of readers. This simple idea provides the starting point for the play, in which a chance encounter with a book—Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina—leads the characters to take a searching look at their own lives.
A book that passes from hand to hand. Three women prompted by its pages to reassess their lives. Mariana, a museum security guard, realises that she is trapped in a dull and meaningless existence. Patricia, a novelist, begins to question both her writing and the honesty of her relationship. Silvia finds solace in Tolstoy’s words as she struggles with grief. Libros cruzados is a work born out of a love of literature, exploring the power of books to cast new light on our lives and help us navigate the complexities of existence.

La Salita doors will open between 5 and 15 minutes before the show begins.
Access to the hall is not permitted once the doors are closed for the event to begin.
Access is only allowed to those over five years of age.
