MAO FUJITA

With his natural musical sensitivity, the 25-year-old pianist Mao Fujita has already won critical acclaim. Following his U.S. recital debut at Carnegie Hall in January 2023, The New York Times wrote: “As soon as his fingers touched the keys, waves of ethereal filigree, beautifully shaped and articulated, emerged in almost continuous streams,”.

Born in Tokyo, Fujita began playing the piano at the age of three. While still a student at the Tokyo College of Music, he won First Prize at the prestigious Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Switzerland in 2017, also receiving the Audience Prize, the Prix Modern Times and the Prix Coup de Cœur. Two years later, he was awarded the Silver Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow.

After receiving his first international prize at the World Classic competition in Taiwan in 2010, he went on to become a laureate of numerous national and international competitions, including the Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition in Vienna (2013), the Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians (2015), and the Gina Bachauer International Junior Piano Competition (2016).
