Composer

She was born in 1978 in Gran Canaria. She studied piano, oboe and composition at the Music School in her home town Vecindario (Santa Lucía), at the Academy of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria and at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Las Palmas, receiving classes in harmony, counterpoint, composition and orchestration from Francisco Brito, Daniel Roca and Xavier Zoghbi. She obtained a Professional Diploma in Oboe and Higher Diplomas in the specialities of Piano, Solfège and Composition, and obtained the End of Degree Prize for the latter speciality. She continued her training with professionals like José Luis de Delás at the University of Alcalá de Henares and with José María Sánchez at the Soto Mesa School in Madrid. In 2016 she obtained a doctorate from the University of La Laguna, Tenerife, presenting a doctoral thesis on the musical creation of the Canarian composer Xavier Zoghbi.

As a composer, her catalogue encompasses more than fifty works for soloists, chamber groups, orchestras and choirs. She has received commissions from the Spanish Society of Authors Foundation, the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras (AEOS) and the Canaries Music Festival among others. Her works have premièred at venues such as the Teatro Guimerá in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Auditorio Infanta Cristina in San Sebastián de La Gomera, Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Juan March Foundation, Conde Duque Centre, Teatros del Canal, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Kulturpalast in Dresden or the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Among her works, her orchestral production stands out: the Concerto for oboe and two orchestra groups (a commission by the Spanish Society of Authors Foundation, SGAE and the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras -AEOS-, premièred by Salvador Mir and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria, conducted by Michail Jurowski), Images of an island for orchestra and La Gomera whistling language  (commission of the La Gomera Island Council,  premièred by José Luis Castillo and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria with Gregorio Gutiérrez conducting), In Paradisum, a concerto for piano and orchestra (commission of the 26th Canaries Music Festival, premièred by José Luis Castillo and the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra with Lü Jia conducting), Pater Noster for choir and string orchestra, a work that obtained an Honourable Mention at the IV Fernando Rielo International Sacred Music Awards, Ángel de luz (Angel of light), a dual concerto for percussion, string orchestra and harp (a commission by the Spanish Society of Authors Foundation, the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras -AEOS, premièred by Per-QT Dúo and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria conducted by Georg Fritzsch) and Galdosiana (co-commission by the Youth Orchestra of the Canaries and the Spanish National Orchestra premièred in 2021 with Vicent Alberola and Carlos Miguel Prieto conducting, respectively.) Several of her works have been recorded for the record collection La creación musical en Canarias (Musical Creation in the Canaries) by the label RALS, as well as for the label Piccolo and for the Spanish Society of Authors Foundation.

Since 1999, she has been a member of PROMUSCAN, the Association of Composers of Las Palmas, and she was its president between 2008 and 2011. In her role, she was a member of the Governing Board of the FAIC (Federation of Iberian Associations of Composers) in its gestation phase. Between 2010 and 2013 she was a member of the Management Board of the Canary Island Museum of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. In 2011 she was a member of the jury of the National Music Awards of the Ministry of Culture. Since 2003 she has taught at the Department of Composition at the Higher Music Conservatory of the Canaries, in the Gran Canaria headquarters, and she served as Deputy director between 2019 and 2021. Since 2011 he has been a permanent Academic of the Royal Canary Academy of Fine Arts.
