Alfonso Sebastián

HARPSICHORD

Born in Zaragoza in 1974, he studied piano (Pilar Armijo) and harpsichord (J. L. González Uriol) at the Conservatorio Superior in this city. He carried on his education at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris, where he specialised in fortepiano (Patrick Cohen) and studied orchestra conducting (Claire Levacher). He has done improvement courses with J. W. Jansen, G. Leonhardt, L. U. Mortensen, J. Ogg and P. Badura-Skoda, among others.

He is guest conductor of the Orquesta Vigo430 and a member of the group Los Músicos de Su Alteza. He also collaborates with the ensemble La Tempestad, Al Ayre Español, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Orquesta Barroca de la Universidad de Salamanca, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León…

He has made different recordings: Luigi Boccherini’s music for two harpsichords and Spanish concertos for harpsichord and orchestra (with Silvia Márquez and La Tempestad). Also, with the musicians of Los Músicos de Su Alteza he recorded Miserere de Nebra, Villancicos de J. R. Samaniego, the opera Amor aumenta el valor by Nebra and the Roman Oratorios by Carissimi and Luigi Rossi for the French label Alpha.

As a translator, he has rendered into Spanish the treaty of Quantz (Dairea, 2016). Since 1999 he is main teacher of harpsichord and basso continuo at the Conservatorio profesional de Salamanca.
