Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, he is currently solo cello at Orquesta Nacional de España and teaches at Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona and is guest teacher at Rotterdam Conservatory. He has been awarded the first proze at different nacional competitions (Juventudes Musicales, Dirección General de Música y Teatro, etc.). he regularly takes part in prestigiuos chamber music series with groups such as Plural Ensemble, Zarabanda, and Camerata Sa Nostra, as well as at international festivals like Presences 2000 (Paris), A Tempo (Caracas), Dublin, and different cities in the US, etc. He is part of the teaching staff for the course Música en Compostela and was a member of the jury at the International Cello Competition Antonio Janigro in Croatia. Ángel Luis plays a J. Guadagnini “Il soldato” cello, from Fundación Columbus.
