CACHITO VALLÉS

Artist

Cachito Vallés (Sevilla, 1986) mainly works with the ideas of time and space on new media installations in which he reflects on technology, beyond its functionality, through the creation of specific software.

Represented by Galería Luis Adelantado, his work has recently been exhibited in museums such as the Carmen Thyssen in Malaga, the Centre for Contemporary Creation in Cordoba C3A, the Centre Pompidou in Malaga and the Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art (CAAC). His work is part of public collections such as the Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art in Seville, the CAC in Malaga, the DKV Collection and the collection of the Canarian Foundation for the Development of Painting (FCDP), among others.

Through his work, Vallés explores the gaze and thoughts of the viewer. In his work, mechanics are the process and content, and the result of this is an artifact with a synthetic, complex, vibrant and at times shiny appearance, that always manages to have an emotive and hypnotic component. In his pieces, light not only has a texture, but it also acquires substance and position. Time is another of the elements that define his work. The barrier of time is a boundary that he manages to shift with certain ease in his machines. Controlling the duration, repetition, and understanding of the present moment become key aspects to navigating his thinking, and he manages it by creating his own “production machines” that act as an intermediary and renewed catalyst but he is also interested in considering, through the end results, the question of the aura in the work of art, the problem of the autonomy of the work of art or in contrast, the end of this autonomy.
